DesignCrowd.

DesignCrowd is a website with thousands of clients looking for new logos, flyers, buisness cards and more. You create an account with DesignCrowd and search through the listings for for something which appeals to you, wether it be a logo for something or perhaps a t-shirt design, once you have found something that you want to do, you create a design going by the guidelines the client has given you, and send it off to be viewed. If your design is chosen and you have won, the clients on DesignCrowd offer payment for whomever has won.

Millie Moo!:

I decided to do a logo for a company called 'Millie Moo!' which is a childrens boutique offering unique upscale clothing at an affordable price. They wanted a logo created which involved a symbol which could be recognised as something that relates to a cow, they also said they wanted their logo to be fun, and playfull. As well as this they stated that they would like two versions of the logo, one suited for boys, and the other for girls, using the colours baby blue, and baby pink. Using the information provided to me from the client I began work on my logo.

First of all when I started the creating process of my designs for Millie Moo! I decided that I wanted to use a calf for my design, but a cute cartoon calf, to begin with I sketched up some rough drawings of calves, and then chose my favorite one, and then developed this one further, adding in colours.

Once I had done this I begun the process of creating it digitally using Inkscape. I created my degin using various shapes to get the basic outlines for Millie Moo! once I had done this I then used various techniques in order to add more depth to my design, adding in spots, and various colours. There were some things I decided to change from my original design, which I felt made it more effective. I created two copies of the logo, one with a baby pink theme which of course would be for girls, and one with a baby blue theme for the boys. Once the logo was complete with both a boy and girl version I then used Photoshop to add my logo onto a clothing tag, in order to allow the client to see what my logo would look like on a clothing label should it be used.

I then sent my deign off to the client and awaited feedback from them, to see if my design had been chosen. Unfortunately my design was not what the client was looking for and it was rejected, though I did recieve some positive feedback about my design, and got 14 marks out of a possible 20, which I am very pleased with seen as it was my first attempt at designing a logo for a client.

Four Paws Abroad:

The second logo I decided to to create was for a company called 'Four Paws Abroad' which is a veterinary service that provides International Health certificates and all requirements necessary for world travel/relocation of pets (cats and dogs only). They wanted a logo which was both professional and "cute" and included the animal figures of both a cat and a dog. Using this information provided I began creating a logo.

The first thing I did when creating the logo for Four Paws Abroad was draw up some design idea's, because the brief said they wanted a cat and dog incorporated into the design, I thought this was a good starting point and started creating various designs including the image of a cat and a dog, also because it said it was an international service I thought that including a globe and perhaps a aeroplane would be a good idea also.

Unfortunately before I got a chance to develop my logo ideas, the project had been closed and a winner had already been selected, so I never got to send in my logo and get feedback from the client.
